# Usage ## Opening the “Product Sorting” tab 1. Go to **Catalogues → Categories** and open the desired category. 2. Select the **Product Sorting** tab. The tab is available for **page categories** (regular shop category pages). ## Sorting products 1. Wait until the product list has loaded. 2. **Drag and drop** rows to reorder. The **Position** column shows the new order. 3. When positions have changed, you will see: *Sort positions have been changed. Save the category to apply the changes.* 4. Click **Save** on the category — only then are positions stored. Sorting is **not** saved immediately when you drop a row; it is saved together with the category. ## Show variants **Show variants** switch: | Setting | Behaviour | |---------|-----------| | **On** | Each variant appears on its own row and can be sorted individually. | | **Off** | One row per main product; sorting applies to the visible group. | The setting is stored in your **browser** (session-wide, not per category). ## Greyed-out products (“Not in store”) Products that would **not** currently appear in the category’s **storefront listing** remain **visible and sortable** in the grid. They are only highlighted: - Row is **greyed out** - **Not in store** badge with a short explanation in the tooltip - Pencil icon opens the **product detail** page for editing This lets you keep e.g. sold-out or temporarily inactive items at a fixed position until they are visible again. ### When is a row greyed out? Typical cases: 1. **Product is inactive** — not shown in the shop. 2. **Clearance sale out of stock** — product is marked as clearance sale, has no available stock, **and** **Hide products after clearance** is enabled for the relevant sales channel in shop settings. **Not** greyed out (examples): - Regular product with stock 0 **without** clearance sale - Clearance sale out of stock but **Hide products after clearance** is **disabled** for the channel ### Related shop setting (clearance sale) **Settings → Products** — option **Hide products after clearance** (per sales channel). The same setting affects grey rows in the tab. See the tooltip and legend in the tab for details. With **variants hidden**, a row stays normal as long as **at least one** variant in the group would still be visible in the shop. ## Dynamic product groups (product streams) Categories whose products come from a **dynamic product group** are supported. All products currently returned by the group are shown; manual order applies to that category. ## Storefront sorting So visitors see your manual order: 1. Open **Settings → Shop → Product sorting**. 2. Assign **Recommendation** to the sales channel (or add **Manual sorting** to an existing sorting). **Recommendation** is created when the plugin is installed (if it did not already exist). 3. Set the order under **Product Sorting** in the **category** and **save** the category. Products **without** a saved position usually appear **after** manually sorted items. ## Permissions - Tab visible: **View categories** permission - Edit product (pencil): **View products** permission If you lack access, contact your shop administrator.
